My Approach

Connection is the most important thing

In my practice, I integrate Gestalt, Interpersonal, and Polyvagal approaches with CBT skill building.

Throughout our lives we get exposed to things that can cause us harm, or injury. No matter how our injuries occur, the most significant and lasting effects are often emotional. Sometimes those emotions can be distressing and can overwhelm our ability to cope. After a distressing event, we may have a hard time healing and returning to a place of calm and safety, within ourselves and within our relationships.  

I approach counselling from a perspective that places physical and emotional safety at centre of healing. I start by helping clients calm down inner turmoil by providing a safe and warm space to explore what is most affecting them.

Once immediate distress and suffering has been lessened, I help clients to explore further and get to the core drivers of their patterns. Then, I look at strategies to help clients make meaningful and sustainable shifts that will benefit them for years to come.
